There has been a lot in the news about relations with Islam recently. Much of it is negative, focussing on terrorism, or recently, the veil. These issues might not seem to be important to us in this very rural area, but it is important to understand what is going on in the wider world. So, it would be good to get a greater understanding of Islam. With this in mind I have organized a Middle Eastern meal for the 3rd November at 7:00pm. This will be part of a series of meals that are also intended to help us understand the wider world. Before the meal Dr Dawoud El-Alami will give us a talk about Islam and peace. Proceeds from the meal will go to The Red Cross.
Another venture that is starting in November is the Menter course. This course has been designed by the Diocese especially for the West Wales. The course has Welsh and English books. This year the course will be run in English but we need Welsh speakers to come so that we can run the course in Welsh next year.
We are meeting at 6:30 on Wednesdays at the Rectory. Each session will start with a bring and share supper, so there is no need to eat at home. Eating together and sharing is an important part of the course because it is an important part of being Christian. The course is not just for church people; anyone who is interested in what the church is all about is welcome. The course will help us to learn and talk about what Christians believe and why. I would strongly commend this course to you.
